Global warming is when the heat from the sun is trapped in the atmosphere. The heat is trapped when sunlight comes to earth. Once the sunlight penetrates the atmosphere (most sunlight is reflected) then it hits earth. Then Earth absorbes the heatand ratiates it as ifrared and heat waves. Now with increased pollution those ifrared and heat waves  are being bounced back to earth by and increased greenhouse effect. There are many gasses that cause this effect they are called greenhouse gasses. One particularly harmful type greenhouse gases are called CFC gasses. Some CFC gasses gan be 10 times more affective at trapping heat than carbon doxide, and last for 111 years. So we can't just wait this out.
